Seahorse vying for the attention of the Female seahorse

This image shoes three male seahorses vying for the attention of a female. The female chooses the one with the largest belly, and will then deposit up to 1,500 eggs in his pouch. He carries these for 9-45 days, when the baby seahorses emerge, tiny but fully formed. Once the infants emerge the male abandons them.
